The Calcium Con: Why More Doesn’t Mean Stronger Bones

Let’s talk about one of the most overhyped wellness myths still floating around like it’s 1997: “You need more calcium for strong bones.”

No, you don’t. You need a better calcium strategy.

You’ve been sold a story. That more calcium = stronger bones. That popping a daily supplement is your golden ticket to avoiding fractures as you age. That you can out-supplement menopause.

But here’s the truth: more calcium doesn’t build better bones, and it might actually be hurting your heart.

When you take a calcium supplement, especially a big, chalky 1000mg dose, it hits your bloodstream hard and fast. Your body goes, “Whoa, what do I do with all this?” And if it doesn’t have the right nutrient co-pilots (hello, vitamins K2 and D), it starts depositing that extra calcium wherever it can.
